Last updated: 11/12/2025
Our commitment
HHS aims to make this website usable by everyone. We are working toward conformance with WCAG 2.1 AA and we review new features and content with accessibility in mind.
What we are doing
- Using clear headings, labels, and descriptive link text
- Providing alt text for images and captions for media where practical
- Maintaining keyboard navigability and logical focus order
- Preserving sufficient color contrast and scalable type
- Avoiding content that flashes or auto-plays
- Testing templates during updates and addressing flagged issues
Your experience and feedback
If you have trouble using any part of this site or need an accommodation, contact us. Please include:
- The page URL and what you were trying to do
- The assistive technology or browser you use
- Any screenshots or details that can help us reproduce the issue
We aim to acknowledge requests within two business days and to resolve verified issues within a reasonable timeframe, prioritizing barriers to access.
Third-party content
Our site may include third-party plugins and embedded media. While we cannot control third-party code, we choose vendors that support accessibility and we will raise issues with them when identified.
Continuous improvement
Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We schedule periodic audits, track remediation, and update this statement when our practices change.

What are cookies
Cookies are small files placed on your device to operate the site, remember preferences, and understand how visitors use our pages. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels, and tags. We use the term “cookies” to include all of these.
How we use cookies
We group cookies into the following categories:
- Strictly necessary. Required to load pages, secure the site, and deliver basic functions.
- Performance and analytics. Help us understand visits and improve content. Data is aggregated where possible.
- Functionality. Remember choices like language or form inputs.
- Advertising and cross-context analytics. Used to measure campaigns or show ads based on your interests if we enable such tools in the future.
We keep cookie data according to our retention practices and only as long as necessary for the purposes described here.
Your choices
You can accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies, or set preferences. You can control cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not work without necessary cookies.
California and CPRA
We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined by the California Privacy Rights Act. If we ever enable advertising cookies that qualify as “sharing,” we will update this policy, add a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link in the footer, and honor opt-out signals.
GDPR and international visitors
Our legal bases for using cookies include legitimate interests for necessary and analytics cookies, and consent for advertising or other non-essential cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand site performance. Where possible, we aggregate or de-identify data. See our Privacy Policy for details on vendors and data rights.
No PHI
Please do not submit protected health information through forms. We do not use cookies to collect or store PHI.
Updates
We may update this Cookie Policy. The “Last updated” date reflects the latest version.
